More about my approach
Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Sunanda “Suni” Sharma, LPCC (OH), LPC (NJ), NCC
I am an independently licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio and a licensed professional counselor in the state of New Jersey. In addition to being a clinician, I am a doctoral candidate at Montclair State University. I am a clinician, researcher, educator, social justice advocate, and a budding clinical supervisor. Counseling is my passion and purpose and I look forward to serving you on your journey.
As a second-generation Indian-American woman, I bring a bicultural perspective to my counseling work. It can be challenging to straddle two worlds, but I am here to support you through your journey to wellness. I believe in the concept of a “brave space” in which you are welcomed and encouraged to bring your entire authentic self to session. Many of us have been told that therapy and counseling are not for us - I am here to challenge that notion and tailor the therapeutic process to your needs and goals.
My approach to counseling is rooted in a humanistic and feminist lens, where an egalitarian relationship and a non-judgemental environment are at the core of our work together. Counseling is a vulnerable experience and I am here to hold space for you. You are the expert of your life and I am here to facilitate an environment in which you can grow and explore in order to achieve your goals.
I speak Hindi and Punjabi, I am a lover of hilarious memes and reels, and I infuse humor (when appropriate) into our work together! I look forward to working with you and learning more about how I may support you.
